Connect SumTotal’s Extended Enterprise payment system to an external online store so learners can seamlessly purchase and access their training.
The Extended Enterprise payment system allows you to require payment and set subscription lengths for SumTotal learning activities. By default, Extended Enterprise uses SumTotal’s internal "shopping cart" payment system. However, you also have the option to connect Extended Enterprise to an external online store so learners buy their training using your company's payment system instead.
Once you enable this payment method and configure Extended Enterprise activity properties, when learners click Purchase on an activity in SumTotal, they’re redirected to the external store where they can buy the training. Once they do, they can access the training in SumTotal for as long as the subscription is active.
For additional details on Extended Enterprise and the external online store payment method, please see the SumTotal Learning Management Extended Enterprise and E-Commerce User Guide, available on SumTotal Connect.

This feature applies to all activities that have Extended Enterprise enabled and belong to a domain that has external store purchases enabled.
No, Extended Enterprise-enabled activities always use the payment method configured in the activity’s primary domain. Each domain can only have one payment method (shopping cart or external store) enabled.
No, learners can visit the store directly and purchase training. Our system uses APIs to record these purchases even when the learner is not logged in to SumTotal.
Learners can go to the activity’s details page and click Purchase. This opens a new browser tab and redirects the learner to the external store URL where they can buy the activity.
Please note that an administrator needs to enter a Purchase URL for Extended Enterprise-enabled activities in domains that use an external store. If no Purchase URL is provided, the system won’t know where to redirect learners and clicking Purchase will trigger an error message.
If your external online store supports purchases from a mobile browser, then yes, the learner can buy content through our Mobile app.
